Volleyball president appeals to new minister

“I know the one at the University of Botswana is about to be completed which is a welcome development, but we need more than that,” Molaodi said at the Mascom Volleyball League awards held in Gaborone on Tuesday.

He said they intend to bid to host some international events and can only do that if they have the facility.

The unavailability of an indoor facility in Gaborone has forced BVF to play most of their league matches outside the city.

Most of the matches were played in Molepolole, Otse Police College and Lobatse.

Molaodi also raised his concern over the School of Excellence, an initiative that was introduced few years back.

Molaodi said even though it is a viable project, it has not produced results as much as it should have.

He said more should be done to ensure that the project produces results. He said his worry was that they do not have the right coaches at the right schools.

“It is not because we do not have good coaches, but because they are placed at the wrong schools,” he said.

Olopeng assured Molaodi and his executive committee that his office will always be open for discussions on anything that affects volleyball or sports in general.  He said his ministry wants to see sport grows to another level.
