Nico sack Mogae

There have been reports that some supporters and officials wanted the coach to be kicked out because of poor performance.

Nico secretary, Thalefang Bagwasi told Mmegi Sport yesterday that Mogae was informed in a meeting with management on Tuesday that his services are no needed by the club. “Yes we have decided to part ways with the coach after a string of poor results. In his place, we have appointed our former player, Busang Moalosi to take over on an interim basis before we appoint a substantive coach,” said Bagwasi.

Tshegofatso Gabanathata who assisted Mogae will work with Moalosi, a former Nico assistant coach.

Bagwasi refused to give more deatails about Mogae’s sacking saying that the club chairman who is out of the country is the one who is best placed to comment.

Yesterday Mogae confirmed his sacking, but refused to answer questions from Mmegi Sport.

“The Nico management team is the one best placed to tell you everything about my sacking but it is true that I am no longer with the club,” he said. Mogae was appointed Nico coach late last season following the sacking of Elijah Chikwanda.

Interestingly Chikwanda was also shown the door last week by BDF XI following  poor performance.

Last season, Mogae guided Nico to a respectable finish in the league that earned the club a spot in the Mascom Top 8 Cup.

This season the club has performed badly and is currently rooted at position 11 with 13 points from 12 matches. Though he struggled in the league, Mogae did well in the Mascom Top 8 where he masterminded Nico’s qualification to the semis at the expense of fancied Mochudi Centre Chiefs.
