The Monitor is informed that the mini-bus was carrying the groom’s party for the first leg of the wedding in Marapong scheduled for this past Saturday. In the accident, the mother to the groom also lost her daughter-in-law(married to another son), as well as her daughter.

A close relative says the mini-bus had left Thamaga, the home of the groom, for the first leg of the wedding that was scheduled for Saturday when the four close relatives all perished. Apparently one of the rear tyres burst, resulting in the mini-bus skidding off the road and killing seven people including the driver.

On Saturday, the Police could not provide any update but their Friday statement indicated that a man and  six women died, while the other seven were rushed to the hospital. A source at the hospital claimed there were no further deaths recorded since the group was received in the early hours of Friday.

The names of the deceased have been withheld until their next of kin has been informed.
