BIfm�s donates to hospice

Holy Cross Hospice is a community-based hospice that was initiated by the Women ‘s Association of the Anglican Church. The Hospice caters for 20 out-patients from the Old Naledi and Newstands areas, most of whom suffer from HIV/AIDS and cancer. The Hospice provides palliative care assistance throughout the week and is managed by Pearl Ncube, who helps ensure patients are cared for by receiving 3 meals a day, to home visits every Wednesday to ensure their well-being.

“The work that is being done in the hospices across our country plays an integral role in helping to support those suffering from a wide variety of ailments and who so desperately require medical and lifestyle assistance.

“The Holy Cross Hospice has fast become renowned for the nothing short of miraculous work that they do. Having grown from a much smaller operation, the Hospice has since developed an 8-roomed inpatient unit that we hope to see operational in the coming year.

“As Bifm, we felt compelled to support in any way that we could, working to help such community driven efforts to make a difference,” said Bogatsu.

Volunteer doctors from Government are expected to aid in caring for patients within the new unit once operational. Said Ncube, “We’re looking forward to having the inpatient unit become operational and are currently working with the Ministry of Health to ensure all relevant approvals and requirements are being met.

“One of the key needs we had was that of bedding and other equipment for the beds we had already secured, and it is here that the Bifm team have been so generous.

“Bifm has donated hospital mattresses and air mattresses for the units, along with bedding for the inpatients unit. For that, we are incredibly grateful, and we encourage other local organizations to show similar generosity, particularly with the festive season upon us,” she said.

Bifm has a strong reputation for CSI and community engagement across Botswana, and the Holy Cross donation comes following a similar recent handover at Metsimotlhabe’s Pabalelong Hospice a week prior.
