Just like last season, the two giants clash at a time when Gunners are enjoying a rich vein of form.

The last time the two sides met, a high-riding Gunners had just beaten title favourites, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and BDF XI.

However their giant killing spree was ended when silenced them 2-0 in Lobatse.

The defeat was too painful for Gunners fans who went berserk even before the match ended.

The game had to be stopped for about 15 minutes because of violence that erupted when GU scored the first goal through Kgololo Kgogobi. The incident left several GU supporters seriously injured, forcing the referee to briefly stop the match as officials tried to calm the situation.

The two giants meet tomorrow, this time in Molepolole in the biggest match of the weekend.

Despite a false start to the season when they lost to Chiefs and BR Highlanders, Gunners have enjoyed a lengthy unbeaten run.

Coach, Dragojlo Stanojlovic who was under immense pressure from supporters after the two losses seems to have moulded a strong side.

Gunners have not only been winning matches with free flowing football but have tightened their defence. This season, Stanojlovic has plenty of choices in the squad. Upfront, he has Moemedi Moatlhaping, Pako Modikwa and Nsongamali Shabby. Moatlhaping in particular has a score to settle after his departure from GU last season. In central defence, Gunners have Mosimanegape Ntwaetsile and Tshepo Maikano who have been regular partners for the better part of the season with Desire Bafana and Isaac Paeye used as covers. Gunners are fourth with 24 points from 12 games while GU are sixth with 21 points.

Just like Gunners, GU have depth especially in the midfield where the likes of Ntesang Simanyana and Jackie Mothatego are competing for the same position. The return of Tebogo Sembowa from suspension this week is also a boost for Moyagoleele. Sembowa, together with Mandla Mgadla and Mothatego were suspended by the club for alleged misconduct. Mgadla and Mothatego’s suspensions were lifted earlier while Sembowa remained sidelined.

In other games to be played tomorrow, Chiefs hope for another victory when they visit FC Satmos in Selebi-Phikwe. Notwane take on Orapa United at SSKB stadium while BR Highlanders face BMC in Serowe. Sankoyo Bush Bucks will be at home to ECCO City Greens who played to a 0-0 draw against Highlanders on Wednesday.

Letlapeng lock horns with Nico United, whose form in the league has been below par.

Log leaders, Township Rollers take on Motlakase Power Dynamos in Serowe tonight. On Sunday, BDF XI meet Police XI at SSKB Stadium. Matebele have just parted ways with coach, Elijah Chikwanda and Joel Chonga will be at the helm when they take on Police XI tomorrow.
