Ready to quit: Letlapeng chairperson, Sydney Magagane has denied he is neglecting the team

A section of the club’s supporters has reportedly blamed Magagane for neglecting the team, which has led to its poor performance.

Letlapeng is 14th on the league table with seven points from 12 games. Magagane told Mmegi Sport yesterday that if there is anybody who has a problem with the way he is running the club, they should come forward.

He argued that he has been at the forefront of Letlapeng for the past four years and he cannot destroy the club.  Magagane has held several posts at Letlapeng, starting as its secretary, then marketing manager before he became manager while the team was still in the First Division.

He said he has been running the club alone but now that it is in the Premier League, some people want to take over.

“I cannot fight for power. If there is anybody who wants to be the chairperson, they should say so. If they feel that I am not doing things right, I will walk away.

“I have struggled with this club for a very long time and I have spent all my energy on it. I do not have a social life anymore,” Magagane lashed out.

He continued: “I have been pleading with people to come forward and assist the club with no luck. We call meetings and people do not attend.

“You cannot start complaining when you do not do anything for Letlapeng. We need people with ideas that can take the club forward.”

According to Magagane, despite 14th place on the log, the team is doing well.  Magagane pointed out that he is aware of some challenges which led to losses, but some have been addressed which is why the team managed to beat highly rated BDF XI 1-0 over the weekend.

He said the win was not a fluke and is optmistic more positive results are on the way.

“A soul searching session was held between the management and players (before the BDF XI game) where each party was given an opportunity to frankly express their views,” he said.
