Morolong takes over Kgatleng District Council

The two were elected unopposed amidst allegations that some members of the UDC were trying to block their ascendancy in favour of Mpho Moruakgomo of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

Kgatleng District has 27 councillors, with UDC in the majority.

In their speeches after election, Morolong and Makhura promised to work together. Morolong said that he is overwhelmed that Makhura is his deputy. He said he would learn a lot from Makhura since he is an experienced councillor who once served as KDC chair.  Makhura has urged his colleagues to work together in harmony and forget their party differences.
