Over 90 players graduate from Constituency
Tournaments to Premier League
Question: Dithapelo Keorapetse (Selebi-Phikwe)
Asked the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture about how much has been spent on the Constituency Tournaments since its inception and how many participants have graduated to premier and second division leagues respectively.
Response: the total of Constituency Tournaments since inception is in the region of P141,841,960.70. So far over 90 players have graduated from Constituency Sport Tournaments into Premier and Second Leagues. Some players have also graduated to other League Divisions such as First and Third Division.
More doctors needed at
Selebi-Phikwe Hospital
Question: Dithapelo Keorapetse (Selebi-Phikwe)
Asked the Minister of Health to state the number of doctors who resigned at Selebi-Phikwe Hospital in the year 2014 and their reasons for resignation and if the doctors were replaced.
Response: in the year 2014 only two doctors resigned at Selebi-Phikwe Hospital in the first quarter of the year 2014 and no reasons were stated in their resignation letters. The two doctors were not replaced due to shortage of doctors in the country. Doctors will be sent to Selebi-Phikwe Hospital once the situation of doctors across the country improves. Selebi-Phikwe on its own needs four more doctors as they are now running a clinic for cervical cancer and have calls at the hospital 24 hours. Doctors are entitled to get offs following the calls hence the need for more doctors.
Millions used in maintaining
Letlhakeng-Kaudwane road
Response: Ngaka Ngaka (Takatokwane)
Asked the Minister of Transport and Communications how much government spent in maintaining the Letlhakeng-Kaudwanme road for the financial years 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13 and to state the difference in comparison to the estimates of tarring the same road.
Response: the Letlhakeng-Kaudwane road is being maintained through the re-current budge. The cost of maintaining the road is as follows; in 2009/10 the road was still under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. Expenditure was P1000,000 In 2010/11 the expenditure was P2,448,000 while in 2012/13 the expenditure was P9,267,801.70. The total cost of maintaining the road from 2009 to 2013 is in the tune of P14,548,329.24 while the cost of tarring a road at the current rates is on average P5 million per kilometer. With reference to the time taken maintaining the road, the amount used to date will only tar approximately three kilometers of this road.
Total estimate for construction is P510 million. The upgrading of roads to bitumen standard is done through development budget and maintenance is done through re-current budget.
Plans for water and electricity reticulation
and network extensions around Shashe Area
Question: Fidelis Molao (Shashe West)
Asked the Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources whether there was an elaborate plan for water and electricity reticulation/network extensions in all the villages in the Shashe West Constituency
Response: Due to the limited budget during the last two years of the National Development Plan (NDP) 10, there is no elaborate plan for water and electricity reticulation / network extensions in all the villages including those in the Shashe West Constituency.
The Ministry is currently undertaking country wide assessment for electricity reticulation and network extensions to be included in the next planning cycle (National Development Plan 11) and Shashe West Constituency will be considered subject to availability of funds.
