Clap N Tap gospel festival at Westwood hall this Saturday

Choirs expected to perform at the festival are Baneetseng Ho Jehova Gospel Choir, Babiditsweng Ke Lentswe Gospel Choir, Basha Mogoditshane Spiritual Church Choir, and Metsimotlhabe St John Church Choir.

The four choirs form Clap N’ Tap Choirs of Botswana group, which was formed in 2012 with the sole purpose of promoting and developing the accapella clap and tap music in the country.

CCB chairperson, Tiisetso Masasa, said they planned to turn the event into an annual event. He explained that apart from the group’s dedication to promoting recognition of clap n tap music, they also preached the word of God through song. He further said the group was committed to assisting youth to choose the right path, adding that the youth participating as choir members or attending festivals has the potential of discouraging them from engaging in destructive behavior. He said their music was loaded with motivational messages.

Masasa also said youth who attended the festival would be inspired and motivated by the positive messages in their songs, which encourage behavioral change. He said they intentionally done this after realising that youth are bedeviled by several challenges, which include substance abuse, high pregnancy and HIV/AIDS infection.

CCB Treasurer, Dimpho Rampete, explained that the group was comprised of two community choirs, was made up of members from different churches, including the Pentecostal, Main Line, Apostolic churches. She told Showbiz that part of the proceeds from the festival would be donated to a charity organisation.
