BIHL scoops best annual report award

Held at Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) last week, the event saw BIHL Group won the ‘Best Annual Report Financial Services 2013’ and ‘Best Overall Annual Report 2013’.

“We are humbled and indeed honoured by this recognition of the effort that’s gone into producing a piece of work we are incredibly proud of.

It is a testament to the very strength in numbers behind the BIHL brand and ethos. To be amongst such impressive companies is itself a compliment, and we commend our fellow businesses on the impressive standard they continue to set,” commented BIHL Group CEO, Gaffar Hassam.

BIHL Group has a number of accolades from recent years, including a number of prestigious awards from PwC. The BIHL Annual Report has won awards for ‘Best Overall Annual Report 2005’ and ‘Best Annual Report Financial Sector’ 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2012.

Other winners of the night included; Wilderness Holdings for Commerce and Industry Sector. In the Not for Profit category, Bomaid clinched first position, followed by Botswana Stock Exchange and the Botswana Insurance Company (BIC), through Hotwire PRC, won the Best local design category.

Wilderness Holdings, walked away with the Corporate Social Responsibility award.

The PwC Awards strive to ensure that published financial statements comply with international accounting standards and statutory disclosure requirements.

The platform works to promote Corporate Social Responsibility and to foster acceptance and observance of generally accepted accounting principles in Botswana.

The concerted efforts of many have brought us here, including our external auditors, the Company Secretary, our PR Manager and the publisher of the report itself, Hotwire PRC. This is a victory for all,” Hassam added.
