YAMAs raises the bar high

Although the inaugural awards started relatively late, Yarona FM made sure they give the crowd a world –class event, which was nothing short of spectacular.

Kicking off the show was performances from Vee, Dramaboi, Joint and Scar before the first winner was announced. Presented by Yarona FM manager, David Moepeng, the Best Female award was scooped by Samantha Mogwe.

The Best New Comer presented by co presenters Mdu and Elte was won by PGB Linxsta, who could not believe that beat heavyweights such as Team Distant, Sasa Klaas and Samantha Mogwe.

Boogiesid, beating Euri and Zeus, scooped the best social media award, contested for by two rappers and one DJ.

But all was not lost for Zeus, as the Ma Afrika rapper walked away with the Most Professional Artist of the Year award. Yarona FM’s very own presenter DJ Izzy who recently performed on the Big Brother Africa Hotshots stage caused the biggest upset winning the best Hip Hop DJ award over Kosher Nightz’s Dj Fauz, Cupid, DJ Roots as well as DJ Kells.

For the Best House Kwasa category, it was Black Money Makers artist Mingo who reigned supreme over his mentor Vee, Eskimos and Wizards. Vee, however managed to bag two awards on the night, with his hit single Eita from his previous album Supernatural Vol 1. Vee scooped the Song of the Year award, and he was also crowned Artist of the Year award.

DJ Oats won Best Dance, while Eskimos were announced as the Best Kwaito Artist award. DJ T-Man won the Best House DJ. K-boss on the night walked away with the Best Motswako. 

Skizzo went home with the Legendary Artist award, whilst Easy-B won Legendary DJ.

Luzboy who is one of the pioneering presenters of the radio station scooped Legendary Radio Presenter.
