He said the World Group of Companies supports the Re Ba Bona Ha - catch them while still young - sports initiative as it resonates well with their development programme because it nurtures and develops talent from primary schools.

Nkwe said that grassroots sport development in schools continues to make strides in Botswana. He said the company does not want to see learners using rag balls during training. Nor does it want players to use one ball during training. He said lack of balls makes it difficult for teachers or coaches to train the youngsters. “We want to stop this plastic and molentsa made balls in this school. Ga re batle bolo e le ya rona ya molentsa ga le bona re le fa dibolo tse jaana. We know you are doing well in sports competition, therefore we want you to improve for the better since all what you need is here now,” he stated. The 38 balls are for football, volleyball and netball. Nkwe said Tsogang is not the first school to be given balls by his company. The World Group has donated balls and other sports equipment to many schools in the country.

Another company representative, Igbal Karbelkar said they are responding to President Ian Khama’s call of developing sport in Botswana. He said they are aware that sport contributes to economic empowerment of the youth. Tsogang sports coordinator, Tonic Kgomotshaba said the equipment would be handy in sports development in her school, which has been suffering due to lack of balls. “Despite having problems with sports equipments, our school has been doing well in sports activities, and we produced youngsters who are doing well at various national teams. So with so many balls, I am confident that our school will produce many stars,” said Kgomotshaba.
