BFA slaps Kgomela with suspension

The suspension comes just a week after vice president (administration), Tariq Babitseng was also asked to step aside pending investigations into misappropriation of funds.

Kgomela was reportedly involved in a confrontation with Paul at a recent Premier League match at the SSKB Stadium. Kgomela is said to be in bad books with Paul and Zebras coach, Peter Butler.

Sources at Lekidi Centre said Kgomela, only appointed in February, faces a certain exit after his latest suspension. The Zebras technical team has complained about the conduct of Kgomela, which has led to his suspension. They argue he interferes in their duties instead of focusing on his role. The BFA, through a media statement, confirmed Kgomela’s suspension although it did not give reasons. The association promised a speedy conclusion of the matter.

The BFA has faced mounting relation issues with insiders saying all is not well at Lekidi Centre.

Indications are that there are severe divisions within the association as the date towards the 2016 presidential elections nears.

The dominant Friends of Football faction is losing grip with Sebego reportedly under increasing pressure to act, in some cases against his allies. The suspension of Babitseng, sources said, came after Sebego was forced to act against a man who powered him to the top post in 2012.

In addition to focusing on putting its house in order, the BFA is aware of concerns over the Zebras’ performance. In some instances the coach, Butler has made public his frustrations over lack of proper planning.

The Zebras finished the group stages as the second worst performing side with just one point from six games. They managed to score one goal while conceding eight.
