Well-done Options, Madison

The two brands, reacting to television personality Nonhle Thema’s ugly, AIDS, skinny women of Botswana, wasted no time in terminating their endorsement deals with her.Interestingly Nonhle uttered her nasty remarks while here in Gaborone, at Cigar Lounge, Phakalane.

Talk of inviting someone in your house and then she pisses on you.Options and Madison’s actions should be a wake up call to any celebrity, local or outside, that unruly behaviour does not pay, and mostly that celebrities do not just represent themselves, they represent the brands behind them, even though the celebrity might be out clubbing enjoying her or himself.

The responsibilities placed on your shoulders are huge and should not be taken for granted especially by yourselves to an extent that you can just utter any rubbish and expect everything to be business as usual. While Options and Madison’s courageous efforts are applauded, we are dismayed that Dstv, or is it VUZU, where Nonhle Thema works as a show presenter, have since behaved as if they do not know what is happening.

Dstv is also watched in Botswana as it is watched throughout Africa and it is high time that as a pan African channel they stand up and make their voice heard and their position understood regarding the degrading utterances by their television personality, Nonhle Thema.Or should we conclude that multichoice, providers of DSTV services are condoning this behaviour by their presenter and therefore they see nothing wrong with such comments?

In fact being such a big brand, one would have anticipated DSTV aka multichoice to have been the first to condemn the behaviour of their personality and announce punitive action against her.Interestingly the young woman, who is very active on twitter, has never apologised for her derogatory statement since she was over heard making the remarks on a cell phone in a drunken stupor.

It is the likes of Nonhle who soils what is otherwise reputable cv’s of numerous well behaving, Botswana loving South African celebrities who are being held in high esteem in Botswana. Such personalities of outstanding behaviour are always welcome and will always be adored by their hordes of fans here because they always treat their hosts and fans with dignity and respect.
