Jazz treat at pavilion

The jazz concert, as its title suggests, will feature jazz musicians from three countries being; Botswana, South Africa and Holland.
The event, scheduled to take place November 26 and 27 at the Pavilion, will feature performances by Paul van Kemenade’s Jazz Quintet, Soul Afrique, and Badisa Band featuring Banjo Mosele.
Paul Van Kemenade’s Jazz Quintet comprises of renowned saxophonist, Paul van Kemenade, Peter Bast, Rein Godefroy, Wiro Maheiu and Louk Boundestein, who are all from Netherlands.
The band is currently on a world tour. Joining the band on stage will be Feya Faku, Sidney Mnisi and Louis Mhlanga.
Shima Monageng of Kalahari Jazz, and owner of Millennium Jazz Restaurant said they could have not chosen any better local group than Badisa Band and Banjo Mosele.
He explained that Mosele, who lives in Botswana and Norway, has many years of experience having performed locally, in Norway and around Europe.
“Badisa band is indeed going to surprise jazz lovers by playing what they don’t often play during live concerts and that will be real jazz, some main stream jazz and standards. Banjo will be accompanied by likes of Zakes Gwase (guitar) Arthur Makgwengwe Mengwe on drums, Brian Nyakurukwa (bass), Andrew (saxophone) and Sharon of my star fame,” Monageng said. The first show, which takes place on Wednesday (November 26), will be a corporate affair. The concert will be at the Pavilion Hall, while the second show to be held the next day will be an outdoor affair. The second show is scheduled to take place at the Pavilion Terrace.
“This will be a kind of free flow show in respect of the jazz reveller movement,” Monageng said. Tickets for the two shows are P500 and P250, respectively.
