The beneficiaries announced yesterday that Choppies CEO and his wife have sponsored their trip to the 9th edition of Kritya Poetry Festival in Kerala, India.

“It is our vision as Botswana Artists, in this case Berry Heart and Moratiwa Molema to inform, entertain, and provide a networking forum for Botswana arts and culture with Indian artists in a pleasant and comfortable environment.

“Their generous contribution helped make our vision a reality by helping to offset the cost of flights and pediums in a country as beautiful and professional as India”.

Berry Heart says the invitation to grace the festival was received on the 10 May, 2014 while sipping sugarless green tea in her office. Berry Heart said the words in the invitation letter,  “You are an eminent poet of modern times, and our selection committee has recommended your name for our upcoming poetry festival. We will be much obliged if you could make it convenient to attend our festival,” brought tears to her eyes.

However, the poets said they knocked on the doors of several local Indian owned businesses with no success until they landed at Choppies.

“In Mr Ram’s office, Moratiwa and I were welcomed by Mr Ram’s warm smile. He showed interest in being the sponsor and called his agent to book us tickets to India right away.

In addition, he called his wife and the Indian artists that he hosted in Botswana to arrange our meeting. As I write, we have been in communication with Vasha and her team of amazing artist and Mr Satheesh the General Manager of Choppies”.

“The UB Poetry Society contacted us for a farewell. What an amazing send off billed for 13 November, for a few hours at University of Botswana Auditorium before our departure. Thanks to Mr Obusitswe Eric Motswasele and his team. It is not complete without expressing my sincere gratitude to Botswana Media.”

“Quite as well, our personal trainer Duncan Sebotelo and Dr Leloba Molema were very useful in offering us training sessions and venue during rehearsals”
