This was the weekend where Tonota FC and GNT, both languishing at the bottom of the log, emerged the biggest beneficiaries.

GNT’s defeat of TAFIC came against the backdrop of reported indiscipline in the latter team after their players absconded from camp on Saturday night, a day before the GNT clash.

However, GNT did not have it easy as Machiminyenga fought valiantly to lose the derby by a respectable score of 1-0.

The win takes GNT, who prior to the TAFIC match were second from bottom in the automatic relegation spot, to number nine with seven points.

TAFIC, relegated from the Premier League last season, are now eighth with eight points. Tonota FC moved off the bottom to 10th following their win over rookies, Tsabothe of Serowe.

Tsabothe started the season well but they are undergoing a lean spell, which saw them dropping from fourth to sixth following the weekend defeat.

The Serowe side is above TAFIC and seventh placed Kazungula on goal difference.  Amakhosi FC climbed from the third to second with 12points after a 1-0 home win over Kazungula FC.

Kazungula has lost form in recent weeks after two consecutive defeats. This is the second consecutive victory for Amakhosi who have shown improved form in recent weeks. Miscellaneous continued their good run with a 4-1 win over Maun Tigers. The win takes the former Premier League side to 15 points from seven matches, having won four and drawn three.

Tigers dropped to the bottom rung with only five points from as many matches.

Mahalapye Hotspurs have also enjoyed a good run this season and this weekend they moved to the third place after outclassing TASC in Francistown in another closely contested match.

The visitors won 2-1 and have a game in hand after their clash with GNT was postponed two weeks ago due to non-availability of match officials.

TASC slipped from second to fifth spot with 10 points. It was a bad weekend for rookies Palapye All Stars who began the season on high note.  Green Lovers 2-1 in Serowe defeated all Stars and the loss takes the Palapye outfit to position 11 of the 12-team league with seven points.

All Stars are level on points with GNT and Tonota FC.
