Phiri Jr II told Showbiz that after noticing that the RnB scene in the country is not up to standard, the duo decided to work together and resurrect the genre.  “Our music industry has a few RnB artists and this has led to the general public forgetting about RnB,” said Phiri Jr II.

The artist mentioned that R & P is willing to face the challenge of venturing into RnB even though it is not as popular as it used to be in Botswana in the past.

He added that their hard work is going to make RnB popular and appreciated again in the country.  He said that they have already started performing in different pubs around Gaborone and most of their performances are for free.  Phiri Jr II also said that they will create RnB awareness by releasing the tracks time and again on social networks for people to appreciate the genre.

The R & P artists mentioned that the group will focus much on commercial RnB that has a diverse international sound, further mentioning that Ricky produced most of the tracks.  He added that seasoned producer Dalton Quake did some of the tracks for the duo.

Phir Jr II stated that their journey on the revival of RnB will not be a walk in the park. He mentioned that they have done their reseach and they have also sort advice from various media personnel such as radio personalities about their venture and music, which is something that has given them confidence to work on this project.

R & P will be releasing a new love song titled What’s Wrong With Us next month.

The duo is also working on their solo RnB projects that will be released in the coming months.
