Changwe has signed a two-year deal and is waiting for his work permit before he starts coaching. The Zambian was on the stands when Motlakase played Township Rollers in the Mascom Top 8 at the Serowe Sports Complex on Friday evening. He was initially destined to join his former club, TAFIC, but instead, the Machimenyega boys settled for ex-ECCO City Greens tactician, Atshele Molapi.

Changwe told Mmegi Sport that he is hopeful of getting a work permit so that he can start drilling Chouka Chouka. “I am hopeful that I will get my work permit in the next few days. I have signed a two-year contract. It was my biggest ambition to return to Botswana. I believe I have the prospects of growing as a coach when I ply my trade in Botswana. I have not let down Botswana teams and I am confident that I will do well at Motlakase,” he said on Friday.

Motlakase are under the tutelage of Atang Mogotsi who is working as a caretaker coach.

Changwe was coach of Orapa United but was sacked in the middle of last season though the club was doing well. Prior to joining Orapa he also coached TAFIC where he proved his mettle by guiding the side to a ninth spot finish after years of fighting relegation. His first stint in Botswana was at TASC before he was poached by TAFIC.

Motlakase spokesperson, Monty Gagomokgwa said Mogotsi will work as Changwe’s assistant. “We wanted someone who can take the club to greater heights and we believe Changwe is the man who can do that. We are still waiting for his work permit,” Gagomokgwa said yesterday.
