Ndlovu eyes elusive Top 8 trophy

Ndlovu said on Friday after witnessing his team thump a hapless Motlakase Power Dynamos 3-1 before a fully packed Serowe Sports Complex that the only competition he has not won in Botswaa is the Mascom Top 8.
“I have won almost every competition on offer since my arrival in Botswana. Winning the Top 8 cup will greatly improve my CV.
Having an excellent CV is what every coach needs. When I first took part in the maiden Top 8 cup while at Centre Chiefs, I made it to the semi-final. Last year with Rollers, I went to the final where I lost to BDF XI.
It shows that I have been improving with each edition. I am confident that I will win this year’s edition,” Ndlovu said. He was happy with the way his troops played on Friday.
“Our mission was to attack our opponents and the players did just that. We could have gone to break leading by 3-0, but I am very impressed with the way we stuck to our game plan. Our mission in the second leg is to make sure that we do not give away our lead,” he said.
He said that his side will not be complacent as Motlakase has the potential to upset them during the return leg in Gaborone.
Ndlovu expressed hope that his key players like Leutwetse Tshireletso and Oscar Ncenga who are both injured will be available for the second leg.
Tshireletso was substituted 23 minutes into the match after struggling with what appeared to be a thigh muscle problem while Ncenga has been injured for a while. “I am however impressed with some of the youngsters who I gave a run in the absence of some of my key players.
The youngsters have really done well,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Motlakase coach, Atang Mogotsi said that his only mission will be to attack Rollers when they visit them in a fortnight.
“Having lost the match 3-1, we do not have an option but to attack in a bid to overturn the deficit.
It may seem an impossible task to overturn such a score line but in football, the unthinkable can happen,” an optimistic Mogotsi said yesterday. He stated that his players struggled to combine against a resolute Popa, which led to their loss.
