Nkapole Launch Flops

The show was meant to launch a comedian called Nkapole. It failed to attract comedy lovers, forcing the organisers to round up Maruapula students and anyone they could find around to make up the audience for free.

Tickets for the show were going for P100 adults and P50 children.

One would have thought the ticket prices were reasonable, considering the fact that it was month end.

After managing to round up Maruapula students to make the audience, the comedians had to go on stage knowing too well that their pay cheque just went out through the window.

Perhaps that is why they seemed to demoralised. The show, which started late went on despite the lack of paying customers.

The line-up, which comprised of Nkapole, Katlo K-LO, Legusty, Mmoloki, LoPan, Hillwalker, Lindo, Gusto and Umaga struggled through out the show to entertain the audience.

Umaga, well known for his role in Botswana Television drama series, Mareledi, had a difficulty making the audience laugh.

His performance did not show the comic in him, as the comedian-cum-actor, seemed like he was trying too hard to connect with the audience, which seemed not to find humour in his jokes.

Performances on the day clearly showed that the comedians are far from emulating the likes Michael ‘Dignash’ Morapedi.
