“While others will be fighting to be in the league next season, others will be competing to be in the top 16. That will be their passport to take part in the top 16 tournament to be held towards end of the year,” he said.

The league ends on December 6. Bonolo Mabote of Smash Maniacs Club stands a good chance of emerging tops as he is unbeaten. However, Seabo said Mabote is not expected to have an easy time as he will face tough opposition in Keenete Santudu of Nhabe, Kola Modisathebe of Smash Maniacs and Thobo Matlhatsi of BDF.

He said the fight for the number one ranking is tough as evidenced by the small margin in the women’s category between Tshepiso Rebatenne of Nhabe and Boitshwarelo Butale of Smash Maniacs. Whoever wins the weekend tournament will end the year as number one.  Seabo said they expect 70 men and 40 women to take in the tournament.

The tournament has been given financial backing by InSports. Dithubaruba club was formed in Molepolole but has since relocated to Gaborone.

Seabo explained that sponsorship remains a headache for the club because it is not well known. The club was formed in 2003 and became a BTTA affiliate in 2006. Seabo said that the association assists them with equipment during competitions, but there is no financial aid.

“We had wanted the tournament to be held in Molepolole but because of the timing, we could not secure a venue as all areas are used for schools’ final examinations,” he said.
