Morupisi was promoted to be Permanent Secretary to the President replacing Eric Molale who is now a specially elected Member of Parliament. Morupisi’s appointment was announced on Tuesday.

“Maphorisa has been in good books of the President and this is one of the controversial posts that cannot be given to anyone who is said to be anti government,” said the source.

Maphorisa is also one of the leading government representatives at the Public Service Bargaining Council (PBSC).

It is her position that has put her at loggerheads with the labour movement representatives over the issue of public service salary increment. Her PBSC position has also put her in pole position to replace Morupisi.

According to a source, another person who stands a good chance is Dr Theophilus Mooko. Mooko once acted in the post when Morupisi was on leave.
