Why they were punished

Saleshando

Daniel Kwelagobe

He has been in Parliament since 1969. His crime against his voters was to remain behind when some rebels left the ruling party to form the Botswana Movement for Democracy.

Gaotlhaetse ‘GUS’ Matlhabaphiri

He seemed to be losing weight during the run-up to the elections and he was on BTV every week distributing bibles. Now it is time for GUS to go back to Molepolole to read many of the bibles he distributed. He should read John14 Verse 1.  He looks like very gifted in terms of reading, and his services would seriously transform his people.  Go and preach the word!!!  Jah/God bless!

Kitso Mokaila

Morupule B is the failed project that cost Kitso a lot. But again, he was associated with some odd event in Pitsane, and then two years later, UDC’s Sir G dies near Pitsane. Okhokho. But there are many jobs that he can get in government, including working at the State House where his brother is working, or setting up a new company to fix Morupule B.

Isaac Mabiletsa

You can fool some people some time but you can’t fool all the people all the time. First, Mabiletsa left the BNF to form BCP in 1998, then lost in the 1999 election. He returned to the BNF and won under the BNF ticket. In 2009 he won again under the BNF ticket until he defected back to the BCP in 2012. Heelang, a jaanong motho yo o ne a tsaya gore selo se koi hela, o tlolela kaha, ob o o tlolela kaha. Ga se koi maaan!

Botsalo Ntuane

Former Leader of Opposition (2011-2012) who looked very promising as a potential builder of opposition parties. He miscalculated the seriousness of his party members, seriousness of colleagues in opposition unity, and the general public. He should focus on businesses and take an absolute leave from politics.

Dumelang Saleshando

The biggest crime, they say, is leading a party that has refused to make compromises and go into opposition unity. He has since said that the talks were motivated by hatred for some people. Re a henngwa!!! Ready to leave!

Just a few days before the elections, at the end of the first round of Gabz FM debates, Saleshando offered to take part in a coalition in the event of a hung parliament. Next time buddy, but don’t forget to dissolve your shadow cabinet!

Johnny Swartz

Mr Nice Guy. He was always keeping quite in the National Assembly - hearing no evil, seeing no evil, and saying no evil. He would not even bother to respond to budget or State of the Nation Address. He presided over the longest refurbishment project in history of Botswana - The National Stadium (2008-2013) Good riddance! He leaves behind a pending stadium in Francistown, Sir Seretse Khama International Airport.

Odirile Motlhale

Those who knew the man say that he was too close to his friend Botsalo Ntuane that he was like a clone or shadow.  Okay Sir, You Will Never Walk Alone, Botsalo will be there for you! Bring back our splash!

Robert Masitara

Beneficiary of 2009 mess in the BNF has finally bit the bullet.  You will do great outside politics, just set up that SPY AGENCY of yours, what is the name...

Masitara Forensics, and work with opposition to unearth corruption. Some in the BDP do not want loud mouths who claim to fight corruption whilst they are still in power. Or, you can give your institution a new name - Batsadi Bame Forensics (Pty) Ltd.

Patrick Masimolole

Hahahahaha!!! My name is... my name is...Slim Shady. After that cabinet reward, the tall man seemed to have lost touch with reality, as he became so hostile to opposition MPs in any debate be it on policy, laws or anything.

Kentse Rammidi

A brilliant politician who also miscalculated the seriousness of the guys under the Umbrella. Within the space of three months, Nchi flip-flopped from BDP, then BMD, then BCP. He should go back to the BDP where he started and do the round in the next five years.

Mephato Reatile

Unconfirmed claims indicate that Reggie had become very close to the Khamas to the extent that he spent weekends with them, wined and dined with them, and there is even rumour that he was learning to fly.

Nehemiah Modubule

The first Mokoko to make it to Parliament didn’t make it this time under an umbrella. Were Lobatse voters angry that instead of joining the Botswana National Front, he joined the BMD? However, he is free to continue hating Khama.
