Back to normal business: The Botswana Softball Association has lifted the suspension of its secretary

At the time, BSA said it was not providing details to protect her. But yesterday morning, the association’s competitions manager, Renny Molete, said the suspension had been lifted.

“Monyake is back in the committee, the issue has been resolved. It was important that this be done,” Molete told Mmegi Sport.

Monyake confirmed the suspension had been lifted but would not say much about the reinstatement.

BSA has been under pressure from affiliates to explain the matter. “It didn’t make sense that she was suspended pending investigations when no one was ready to say what was being investigated. There was not even a hearing or anything before the suspension.

We hope they will be able to work well with her,” said an official who preferred anonymity.

Affiliates reportedly sought to meet with the softball National Executive Committee (NEC) about the issue in vain.

“We tried meeting the NEC to get answers for this suspension but NEC refused to come for the meetings.

However, we are happy they have done the right thing,” an affiliate official said.

Those close to Monyake said she was rethinking her future in the softball committee following the suspension. Monyake received an apology with immediate reinstatement from the NEC.

Meanwhile, Molete said the softball league would resume this weekend after a break to allow players to vote in last Friday’s general election.

The league was launched on October 11 under a new sponsor.
