The celebrated artist, who toured with fellow jazz singers, Kearoma Rantao and Tumediso ‘Shanti Lo’ Loeto said that the tour was a signal for her continued growth in the industry.

“We were given the opportunity to perform at some exclusive venues in both Sweden and Germany, and we all concurred that the three of us outclassed ourselves,” said Nnunu, adding that this time around, they were able to tour with their full band, which helped a lot.

Nnunu said the trio performed at the Botswana Independence Day celebration in Stockholm, Sweden. They also had two shows at Hotel Hellston, which she said is inspired by African décor and culture. They also performed at World Culture Museum in Gottenburg.

The songbird said that the trio had an opportunity to facilitate at a workshop held at the Kulturuma School of the Arts in the Scandanavian country.

“What really impressed me about the Swedish students at the school of the arts is that they had the enthusiasm to study Botswana music and culture.  They were also interested in our local cuisine,” she said.

The star trio spent seven days in Sweden before proceeding to Germany where they also had four shows in three different cities.

According to Nnunu, one of the things that she liked about the recent European tour was the fact that there are good facilities in Germany and Sweden.

She highlighted that the show was made a success by the fact that the trio was able to tour with the full band, which made their performances easier.

“In the past, I used to perform with European bands, which was a bit challenging because their style of jazz is different from ours,” Nnunu said.

The artist, who is also a notable style icon, said that she believes that her and her fellow artists did an impressive job in Europe.  They offered their own brand of Afro-jazz, which is different from the one the Europeans are used to.

“It is apparent that the Europeans are used to the South African brand of Afro-jazz from the likes of Marriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela, so we offered them something very fresh,” he said.

The tour was organised by Streethorn Promotion, which is run by Soares Katumbela.
