This was evident during the past Gaborone region mega rally held at Maharaja open space, where Khama paraded Katse.

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) recalled Katse in June disqualifying him and three council candidates.

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Olebile Gaborone then replaced Katse.

Over the weekend Khama told the rally that he was in Tlokweng and was happy to report that Katse and some of his supporters have rejoined the BDP.

“I had suspended Katse but he is now with us. His supporters had joined the opposition but now they are back,” said Khama.

After his recall, Katse unsuccessfully sued the party at the High Court and lost with costs.

The President also paraded Chris Nthuba who was barred from contesting primary elections in Gaborone Bonnington South last year.

Nthuba was barred because it was alleged that he had manipulated the voters’ roll. Khama told the BDP supporters that Nthuba had reconciled with Gaborone Bonnington South parliamentary candidate, Botsalo Ntuane.

“I’m grateful because they have put the party interest before theirs.”
