The two, public relations officer, Sensei Andrew Dobolo and treasurer, Sempei Bontle Charles had tendered their resignation a fortnight ago. Both belong to the Seiko-Kai Do Botswana.

Dobolo confirmed they have withdrawn their resignations while Sempai Lere Basupang (vice president-administration) and Sempai Kemmonye Setalemotse (vice secretary general) remained out of the committee.

Dobolo said they had to weigh options hence they decided to go back into the committee for the sake of karate’s progress.

He said they held discussions with the BOKA leadership before re-joining.

Dobolo said they concurred that the association should be run differently for the benefit of the sport.

“You know that we resigned because we were unhappy about some things especially the leadership style of BOKA president, Tshepo Bathai. “He has promised to change his ways. We are all interested to see the sport grow,” Dobolo said.

The resignation of the four-committee members sent shock waves throughout the karate fraternity around the country.

The quartet had accused Bathai and Chris Ponatshego (vice president-technical) for taking decisions unilaterally.

They said some committee members were suspended without proper procedure.

Dobolo said they expected the situation to change gradually, not abruptly, as they knew that when they left things were not rosy.

He said with time things will move in the right direction. He said people always retraced their steps for the sake of continuity.

BOKA secretary general, Sensei Phineas Motseolapile confirmed receiving letters from Dobolo and Charles about their decision to rejoin the committee.
