Maseru joy: Morebodi after her weekend victory

Morebodi won the tournament after collecting 75 points from the two days play. She was second in the daily prices category before improving to first position for the nearest to pin shot.

She eventually walked away as the overall winner of the tournament. Of the 135 golfers who participated in the tournament, 18 of them were women.

Morebodi said Mogokare classic attracted players from South Africa and Lesotho. She pointed out that the tournament is part of the Kgalagadi Classic that is played in Botswana in July annually.

Morebodi won herself a trophy and a green jacket that was bestowed on her by King Letsie.

“It means next year I have to go back and defend my title. I was making my debut in the tournament and I played to my level best.  “This win means I have to continue working hard and improve on my handicap which currently stands at 24,” she said.

Morebodi is a member of the Gaborone Golf Club and she has been involved in the sport for two years.

She said she had prepared well for the tournament due to the assistance she got from ZimBots social club, which meets every weekend.
