Its been a long prophetic journey and will continue

People within the church, friends and family circles, and some whom I did not know have been expressing concern for my safety. This was especially after the Sunday Standard newspaper reported that I am under the close watch of the Directorate of Intelligence Services. I have received assurances of prayers; I have always needed and will always need them like everyone else.

I have always assured them that I sleep like a babe at night. I drive and walk about without any fear! I refuse to live in fear in my country. I do not think I have a reason to be afraid. Wherever I walk, God is, so why should I fear. I doubt someone is out there who wants to take my life. Even if that was to be the case, what would anyone gain from it? No one re- ally gains anything by taking someone’s life. Funny: isn’t it that one can take without gaining or getting anything!

I have been called to prophetic ministry. I say what I say and write what I write as a prophet of God, called into the prophetic ministry. That is why I do not fret! God is above all that is because God is the creator of it all; remember “The earth is the Lord’s and its fullness thereof” (Psalm 24:1). Remember that the boat could not capsize because “the Master of the ocean and earth and sky” was and is in the boat even now. Whatever boat you are in, trust in Jesus for you are never alone!

Well I would like to touch on some questions I have been asked lately. One interesting one is why am I suddenly interested in things political? Life has always been one not fragmented and compartmentalised. Well I have for years as part of the prophetic ministry commented of so call “political issues!”

I remember this Sunday after preaching at Trinity Church where I was resident minister on “the house that fights against itself shall not stand.” This was in the 90s when BDP factions were threatening to become normative. After the service H.E. Sir Ketumile who happened to be a member at Trinity Church and was as was the norm present that morning asked that I have lunch with him at the state House. My, were some members of the congregation afraid! “This young man, how can he say all these things in the presence of the president?” I was unafraid, and we had the most frank and honest discussion. I was to have a similar meeting with Major General Moeng Pheto on Wednesday in his office at Sir Seretse Khama Barracks!

The other interesting incident was after the Botswana National Front fracas in Palapye that gave birth to the Botswana Congress Party. Talk about security agents putting their taps on one! Revs Rupert Hambira, Mpho Moru- akgomo (both were as are now BDP functionaries) and myself as ministers in God’s vineyard responded to God’s call to be peace makers to try to reconcile the warring factions. We had several meetings at Dr. Kenneth Koma’s residence. There were security agents monitoring my movements, they parked almost permanently in the then Tirelo Sechaba parking in front of Trinity manse, and I had no fear for I was doing nothing wrong.

The UCCSA Synod conference through their Synod Secretary Rupert Hambira released a statement condemning division in the opposition and therefore urging all concerned to work for peace and reconciliation. This statement rubbed the BDP the wrong way as the then Administrative Secretary Mr Botsalo Ntuane responded harshly and hitting both at the church and Hambira. This was given prominence in the Radio Botswana news. Mpho, Rupert and I were to have a meeting with Rre Daniel Kwelagobe and P.H.K Kedikilwe at the former’s house, it was a can- did meeting and jaaka bagolo they understood the need not to be intolerant especially to the church. A retraction was penned down not at the party office but by mogolo whose name I need not name.

Rre Mephato Leatile will remember my sermon in 2004 at the Dedication of the Jwaneng Congregational Church. I will not elaborate further but he agreed and said “amen” to the sermon. When god puts something in my heart it must be delivered but it must edify and build the nation! Those who read would remember the letter to the editor penned by Dibeela, Hambira and myself during Dr Mogae’s presidency questioning how democratic automatic Presidential succession was. This was for the love of democracy and this country.

I was recently asked by someone if I was not asked to fill Sir G’s boots in Gaborone Central wondering why if I was never ap- proached! Well my answers were simple. To the first question I responded that at least not officially, some people came to me but I do not even think there are in the leadership of the BMD.

The reason I was not approached and why I could not accept which is what I told those who unofficially mentioned their wishes was that I believe one has to be a bonafide member of an organisation to be considered for such! Unfortunately, or otherwise I am a card carry- ing member of no political party. BDM did the right thing to have one of its own registered members. I has been assumed in the past that I was a member of the BDP who sometimes said things that some did not like, now there is yet another assumption.

In fact someone was surprised to see me at the game of my loved team Township rollers at SSKB stadium playing Letlapeng FC when Mr. Duma Boko was launched and asked why I was not at the launch. My answer was sim- ple; I did not get the invitation! I guess in the fullness of time I might register and become a member of some political party but if it is a calling, I have not received it yet. I have chosen to remain the way I am, and I respect and sup- port friends, colleagues and family who are in active politics, it is a noble thing. But remem- ber all life belong to God and righteousness and justice are key especially to those called by Christ’s name. Finally, Batswana let’s go in numbers and vote wisely! God bless and guide you as you go into that sacred cubicle!

Glory be to God!
