UB Kicks who had an upper hand throughout the first half went ahead in the 13th minute through Masego Joshua. He received the ball from Abang Marope before outpacing Sisters’ defenders and unleashed a powerful shot, beating Sisters’ goalkeeper Bonolo Kgokong.

The hosts continued to mount pressure on Sisters’ defence with Mabote and Thapelo Moshe making brilliant switches on the flanks, giving Sisters’ defenders Kebatshetse Makgolela and Tshepo Geremond a torrid time.

Sisters came close in the 25th minute, but were unlucky to see Keneilwe Matolo’s effort come off the upright.

Few minutes after Sisters’ missed opportunity, goalkeeper Kebofe made a brilliant save to deny Matolo yet again, this time from close range. Kebofe immediately played the ball forward, and Kicks caught their opponents with a counter attack orchestrated from the right flank by Marope. Marope delivered a brilliant cross, but Kedibonye Baitshupi failed to easily tap the ball into the empty net. The game went into recess with Kicks leading 1-0.

In the second half, Sisters took control of the game pushing Kicks into their territory and they forced Kicks goalkeeper was forced to make numerous saves. Midway through the second half, the visitors leveled matters through Matolo.  Both teams then continued to create numerous scoring opportunities, but were wasteful upfront.

Kicks nearly got their second goal in the 70th minute, but Sisters’ goalkeeper was equal to the task. Mabote dribbled past two Sisters’ defenders on the right flank and delivered a cross. Kgokong failed to handle the ball and Mash Joshua was quick to spot the error and capitalized.

Sisters then equalised through a well taken set piece by Wampona Kaisara which forced Kicks’ captain, Valentine Maunge, to score an own goal.

Sisters’ coach Dimakatso Odisitse said the game was tough in the first half because of poor communication between his players. He was happy that the mistake was corrected in the second half

Kicks Coach Alex Malete noted that he was impressed with his charges who played better than in the previous game. He said they managed to keep the ball this time and attacked the space with caution.

“We concede goals towards the end, and this is a sign of poor concentration, which I must work on at training next week, but above all our opponents also played well to make this game encounter difficult and entertaining,” he said.
