BTTA’s marketing and tournament organising officer Kudzanani Motswagole said the league becomes more entertaining everytime the players meet on the table. Leading players will clash, providing interesting match-ups..

He pointed that this will be a full fixtures event where a total of 12 matches will be played, both men and women taking part. The first game starts at 11:30 am and last game is expected to finish at 6:00 pm. Since the league started last month Motswagole highlighted that there are players who have not yet tasted defeat, and under men category they are Bonolo Mabote and Thobo Matlhatsi, while for women it is Boitshwarelo Butale and Matshediso Osi.

He said it would be interesting to see Mabote and Matlhatsi square up to display their talent and experience. “I am of the view that the game could go either way since the two opponents are equally talented and experienced. Mabote is sitting at the log summit, while Matlhatsi who really needs a win than Mabote is second. Furthermore, Joseph Kgatlampane is also prepared to win his games to close the gap between him and the two top players,” Motswagole said.

Undefeated Boitshwarelo Butale, leads the women’s section and she is expected to continue her good run.

However, she would be wary of the challenges posed by other players, among them Maitshwarelo Osi who is breathing down her neck on position two. Others who pose a challenge are Tshepiso Rebatenne and Salome Matlhatsi.

Still under the women’s category, Motswagole pointed out that a fierce battle should be expected when the two rivals of table tennis Tshepiso Rebatenne and Salome Matlhatsi face each other. On the other hand experienced players like Phemelo Gaborapelwe and Tshidi will come out guns blazing against their opponents in order to get wins that will improve their log positions.

The midweek table tennis results are as follows: Macdonald Qalinge 4-2 Rorisang Raesima, Salome Matlhatsi 4-1 Phemelo Gaborapelwe, Tshepiso Rebatenne 4-2 Namibo Mbulawa, Kola Modisathebe 4-3 Tshoka Phiri.
