Rocked by indiscipline: The Zebras

Nato was booted out of camp last week Monday after reporting to camp reportedly drunk, while Ngele decided to leave the team after he was dressed down for a poor performance.

“Nato came to camp looking drunk and he disappeared thereafter and switched off his phone.

“Ngele reported to training two days late and when he was told after the game that he was not performing well, he left,” a senior player said on condition of anonymity.

“The two are to blame for all this. This also happened during Stan Tshosane’s era, but the coach never said anything.

“(Peter) Butler has not said anything for now. But we do not support what our colleagues did,” the player said yesterday as the team prepares for tonight’s clash with Egypt.

It has emerged that Ngele was paid allowances for the Egypt reverse match although he subsequently did not make the trip.

Butler has made it clear that he is prepared to work with disciplined players.

“I am trying to build a new team and we will only work with the right players,” Butler told Mmegi Sport last week.

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) is expected to come down hard on the players to ensure discipline prevails at the Zebras.

Nato has already announced international retirement while Ngele’s next move is unclear.  Ngele’s agent, Mike Makaab has urged him to sort out the issue with the BFA before he returns to South Africa this week.
