Klugh serenades at GICC

The Grammy award-winning Klugh performed on Sunday at the second edition of the First National Bank Botswana’s All That’s Jazz Festival, hosted at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).

Jazz lovers were treated to a night of serenity from the crisp soul soothing sounds of Klugh and his band.

Those who were present had an opportunity to bask in the jazz maestro’s enchanting music for close to two hours.

Rated as one of the world’s finest acoustic guitar players, Klugh asserted this through his effortless and passionate strumming of his guitar.

He captivated the audience with a stage performance of a man of more action as he let his guitar do the talking for him.

Moments of sheer musical brilliance came about when Klugh and his trio back-up band fused the sounds of the saxophone bass and piano to produce deep melodies that could prompt the soul to literally dance.

Upon concluding his set the guitarist and his band took back to the stage to perform one more song after an encore.

Klugh performed Tropical Legs, Across The Sand, Kari and One Note Samba amongst his other songs.

Before Klugh’s performance, local saxophone master Lister Boleseng warmed the stage.

Boleseng had brought on his A-game and did not leave any stone unturned as he showed his versatility on the sax.

He performed his signature song, O A Ntsietsa, which was greatly received by the audience who seemed to have been waiting for it.

The previous All That’s Jazz show was headlined by renowned artists David Sanborn and the late Joe Sample in 2012.

Before the proceedings of the evening a moment of silence was observed in honour of Sample who was a pianist, keyboard player and composer of note.
