Notorious Merubisi knife Security Systems officers

Thamaga has been battling this serious gang violence over the years, with the situation reaching peak levels and attracting a lot of attention from the media; cases of violence, theft, burglary and even rape were the order of the day.

The station commander at the Thamaga Police station Superintendent Moses Makgoeng confirmed this incident. He told Mmegi that the security officers were reacting to a call for help from one of their clients.

“They had received a call for help that the said culprits had robbed one of the shops, they followed pursuit and located the culprits at a nearby depot,” he said.

Makgoeng further said stabbed the officers with what the police believe to be a sharp object.

These child gangsters, some reported to be as young as nine-years-old, cause rampage through the village leaving fear amongst the village residents.

A Mmegi investigation team that previously visited the village discovered that the gangs would bra- zenly storm events and forcibly seize food, insult hosts, grab their phones before scurrying to the next

event.

Mmegi investigations revealed that there are three main gangs. Merubisi(Owls), Matsayakankane(those who grab by force), and Magakabe (crows).

There are other small gangs, Bad Girls and Menang (mosquitoes).

Although the station commander could not confirm if the culprits belonged to these gangs, Security Systems took to their official page on social media to confirm that it was in fact members from the gang.

They posted “BREAKING NEWS Thamaga Security Systems reaction crew brutally stabbed by a group of thieves, (Merubisi). More information to follow after arrests are made.” The security officers have since been released from hospital.
