Lets Rise Above Pettiness

What do you do if, while busy sweeping your yard in the morning wearing a traditional skirt, a mad person suddenly and out of nowhere pulls down and snatches away the skirt, leaving you naked in your yard?

Do you quickly run after the mad person, in all your nakedness in an effort to retrieve your skirt, or opt for the wiser plan to run into your house to find something to wear?

The warning here is not to go after foolish perpetrators who, if you pursue them, are percieved as mad, foolish, and become the laughing stock of the community.

While certain people in our society can allowed to get away with saying anything because of the importance people in society place on them due to their social status;  equally certain individuals are  not expected to make the same utterances simply because of who they are, and how much they are revered by society.

Participating in acts that are considered to be in contrast to those their social standing usually causes them  to  lose their respect, dignity and image among the society that has otherwise held them in high regard as their hope.

It is election time, of course, but allowing your dignity that you took over 40 years to build to be shattered by a moment of madness has the potential to undue anyone’s societal profile for good.

While some people can do with a bad image and still win elections, certain personalities are held high, are expected to display exemplary morals character, leadership and governance.

Leaders, let us jealously protect our dignity and avoid public political sparring that leaves us with a tainted name and image. This is especially true especially when we know that for decades we have upheld such standards or dignity in the public eyes.

Even if everyone around you may appear to be a loose canon, it should not tempt one to join in and lose his or her innocence.

Bagaetsho, integrity is everything, let us teach our younger generation that.
