Among the speakers who came to bid Motshidi farewell at the Radisele main Kgotla on Wednesday was nominated councillor, Thapelo Tshotlego who also presented the former with a certificate of appreciation.

Having been a councillor since 2004, Motshidi lost to Fana Rebabedi in the controversial Bulela Ditswe.

Rebabedi, who was conspicuously absent from the Kgotla,  has since decided to contest the coming general elections as an independent candidate. But Mmegi could not reach him for comment on the matter.

Tshotlego described Motshidi as a hardworking man, a true leader and a martyr who had the best interest of his people at heart and who always went an extra mile to assist.

Furthermore, he said he personally learnt a lot from the persuasive councillor. Among the things Tshotlego learned from Motshidi  included administrative issues and council procedures.

Tshotlego said Motshidi was a strong and valiant leader and urged residents of Radisele to continue tapping into his (Motshidi) wisdom even though he was no longer a councillor.

“He may not be a councillor,  but he will remain an asset to the village of Radisele, his home village,” said Tshotlego.

Kgosi Christian Ntebele hailed Motshidi for working well with the village leadership during his term of office.

He added that it was hard work, determination and dedication that gained the man respect and made him an achiever.

Kgosi Ntebele advised aspiring candidates to follow  the example of Motshidi and do even better that their predecessor.

He said  Motshidi has set the pace and that whoever comes next should be up for the challenge. For his part  Motshidi took the residents of Radisele through his political journey, what he has achieved and what he has not achieved.

Apparently, Motshidi was in the habit of assisting his constituents, like those he helped to find assistance they needed in government offices.

He however cried that those he assisted never showed appreciation.

He nevertheless did not elaborate.

Motshidi said he will continue assisting residents of his village even though he would no longer be their councilor.

His other query was that the village youth were not forthcoming when it came to attaining government youth programmes, saying only a few enrolled for the programmes, and did so only when pushed.
