The workshop, to be hosted at TKM School’s Horizon campus, will begin on Saturday and end on Sunday giving local actors an opportunity to learn about the acting industry. Also actors will be exposed to opportunities both in Botswana and South Africa.

Tshepiso Tsheko, a former Botswood actress and now an extra in South Africa’s soapie, 7 de Laan, said Zondi and Mlaudzi will mentor local actors such that they have appreciation for the craft.

Zondi, popularly known as Zodwa by followers of the primetime soapie, is expected to encourage aspiring actors to work very hard and ensure that they reach a level of professionalism.

After breaking into SA’s competitive film industry, Tsheko found it fitting to return to her homeland in a bid to help aspiring television stars realise their dream of becoming stars.

“The idea is to help struggling actors and actresses with a perfect platform to understand the pertinent aspects involved in the acting industry,” said Tsheko, who spent eight years with the local production house, Botswood.

According to Tsheko, the workshop will be held on October 11 and 12 this year in Francistown where participants will be expected to pay P300.  She said Zondi and Mlaudzi are expected in Gaborone on Friday and will be available for a photo shoot.

The Serowe-born sassy woman said the workshop would serve as a perfect platform for actors to explore their talents while tapping into the lucrative markets in SA and abroad.

“This is after realising that local actors and actresses are not really conversant with the acting industry.  It is painful to see that local actors and actresses do not understand the importance of registering with an agent,” said Tsheko.

Zodwa has had an inspiring acting journey, Tsheko said. She said Zodwa would share her story with the attendance in a bid to encourage them to take their talents seriously and give them tips as to how she landed a role in Generations.

While Zodwa concentrates on the mentoring aspect, Tsheko said Mlaudzi would train the actors on how to stand in front of the camera and being confident.
