Karate committee resigns en masse

According to information reaching Mmegi Sport, the only committee members remaining is president Tshepo Bathai, vice president-technical Sensei Chris Ponatshego and secretary general, Sensei Phineas Motseolapile.
Hayashi-Ha Do Botswana chief instructor, Sensei Mpho Bakwadi said they have not been officially informed about the resignations. Bakwadi said he, however heard the rumors and if they are true, BOKA executive is non-existent. He pointed out that four was a huge number.
Meanwhile, Mmegi Sport is reliably informed that the committee decided to call it quits because they are not happy with the leadership of Bathai and Ponatshego.
The duo is accused of taking decisions without consulting the other committee members. Some of the decisions noted include suspensions of some committee members. Among the recent and controversial suspension was that of Dobolo.
Ponatshego and Bathai are said to have gone against agreements of the majority and that led to divisions within the association.
Bathai came into office to replacing Million Masumbika. Bathai was voted in by 12 affiliates against six who went for the former president. Bathai said BOKA would hold an emergency meeting with affiliates today (Tuesday) at the National Stadium. He stated that the remaining committee members have nothing to hide.
“It is up to the affiliates to decide on the way forward. They can decide on calling fresh elections or co-opting other people into the committee,” said Bathai.
He said the four did not state their reasons for resignation in a letter he received yesterday afternoon.
