MCC Thrashes Botswana In Cricket Match

Zain Abbassi and Karabo Motlhanka opened the batting for Botswana as Antony Wilkinson bowled the first over for MCC. Wilkinson’s advanced bowling style made it difficult for Botswana’s opening batsmen to get early runs which reduced their strike rate.

Luke Ryan took Botswana’s first wicket in the second over when he bowled out hard hitting batsman, Abbassi, who walked out with five runs while his counterpart Motlhanka was bowled out by Ryan in the fourth over walking out with 14 runs.

MCC displayed some world class fielding that exposed Botswana’s batting weaknesses as the top batsmen were bowled out in a shot space of time by Thomas Kopelman and Ryan walking out with a few runs.

By the 16th over Botswana had 86 runs with only three wickets remaining, batsmen Adithiya Rangaswamy and Namal Bandara tried to revive the sinking ship as they scored 30 and 20 runs respectively. Botswana closed on 127 runs in the 20th over with one wicket remaining.

In the second innings Botswana managed to get an early wicket in the first over when Namal Bandara bowled out MCC skipper Toby Drummond who walked out with one run. MCC batsmen William Vanderspar and Julian Russell formed a solid partnership that gave Botswana fielders some tough time on the field as the batsmen hit a string of boundary runs.

Botswana captain Karabo Modise managed to break the Vanderspar and Russell partnership in the nineth over when he bowled out Vanderspar who walked out with 17 runs. MCC batsmen continued to play their game on a fast pace which led them to surpassing their opponents’ score closing on 130 runs with four wickets remaining.
