Rollers demolish hapless Letlapeng

Rollers 4 (Boy, Tshireletso, Ngwenya X2)

Letlapeng 0

Rollers victory follows a disappointing draw against Sankoyo Bush Bucks a fortnight ago, a result which saw them drop to position four in the title race. Coach, Madinda Ndlovu stuck to his usual line up with the only change being the return of Leutlwetse Tshireletso at the heart of the defence. Tshireletso partnered Simisane Mathumo with Oscar Ncenga nursing an injury. Letlapeng on the other hand also fielded their strongest team, which boasted the likes of Lebogang Ditsile, Canny Gaontebale as well as Tshegofatso Chimuku.

The new comers have been on a losing spree, having registered just one win since the season started.

They played well in the first half, containing Rollers from all angles despite conceding a goal towards the end of the half. Chimuku gave Rollers a torrid time with his skill and speed but they fired blanks upfront. Rollers first goal came in the 40th minute through Segolame Boy. Mathumo played a long ball into Letlapeng’s area and Jerome Louis cleaverly flicked it to Boy who made no mistake.

It was Rollers’ only second clear-cut chance they had created in the entire 45 minutes. The first chance came moments before the goal with Kobamelo Kebaikanye finding himself one-on-one with goalkeeper, Tumiso Mashakola but his shot was too weak.

Just few minutes into the second half, Rollers increased the lead through Tshireletso. Rollers started to take full control of the match and despite the 2-0 lead, Ndlovu introduced Manqoba Ngwenya for Motsholetsi Sikele in search of more goals.

The move paid off with Ngwenya grabbing Rollers’ third goal just few minutes after being introduced. He scored his second goal with a brilliant tap in connecting Otlantshekela Mooketsi’s curling cross. He nearly scored a hattrick but lack of communication between him and teammate, Kebaikanye saved Letlapeng from further embarrassment.

“I am not happy because even though we won, we should have done that by a wider margin. We created many chances but failed to utilize them,” Ndlovu said after the match. Letlapeng coach, Nelson Olebile said their training programme was affected by the Independence break.
