I Used To Hide My Long Legs In Pants

“I was a tomboy growing up. I used to hear peers cheering me as a Naomi Campbell, a Tyra Banks; but it didn’t click to me what they saw me in me; I liked wearing long pants all the time until in 2009, a certain woman approached me and told me how beautiful it could be modelling her short dress; she asked me to do a photo shoot; I could not believe what I saw, the beauty of my long legs. There was a new realisation in me that I was born for the catwalk, and I started doing more events”.

Linsha recently returned from a modelling trip in Canada where an African fashion week was hosted.

In November the talented model is set for another overseas experience in Dubai.  She tells The Monitor that she hopes to win a professional modelling deal while there.

“When I was in Canada, one contact gave me a card for jobs; guess what, I have misplaced it!”.

Linsha says she has the President Day competitions to thank for her exposure. Before the President Day art competitions finals, Linsha had never done any event in Gaborone.

In fact it was because of her feat at the competitions that she was included in the Africa Fashion Expo entourage by organisers at the Department of Culture.

The Canada experience saw Linsha sharing the catwalk with top African models like Uluchi of Nigeria, among others.

Since she got the exposure and was crowned the best female model Linsha says a lot has changed in her life. “ I get the respect and people talk to me every chance they get. They also ask me for fashion tips like what to wear and what not. I get the respect because I did it for my town.

“ The attention I get can be overwhelming sometimes because you really don’t know how to carry yourself but I make sure that I remain true to myself I am not going to change and be a different person, it is working for me”. She may be tall, slender, and sexy, but Linsha says when it comes to diet, she does not have rules.  “I know you are not going to believe this. I am not on a diet.  I like oily foods.  I don’t really watch what I eat. I always tell people that I was born a model.  I don’t have to keep my body in shape to be a model because it already is.
