Rick Yune Speaks

Growing up in America had its challenges. I was raised in Washington DC which was at the time the murder capital of the world. Our Mayor was caught smoking crack in a hotel room with prostitutes and thrown in jail. But there was a flip side.

There existed an amazing spirit there as well.  People knew and felt they had the chance to hold their dreams true and work towards making them a reality. That although our system may not have always been perfect the intention of JUSTICE permeated through all of us.  We knew laws and systems existed which provided the foundation for equality and fairness. Balance.  That everyone had a chance to create a better life.

After the Mayor served his jail time he ran for office again and won.  Even someone who had fallen so much was given the chance to get back up.  And such is the American Dream. And this Dream is Universal.

I love Botswana. I have learned and grown so much from all my time spent in this beautiful country. And you have welcomed me with open arms and open hearts. I’M GRATEFUL. I have felt at Peace in Botswana. I feel at Home in Botswana. And I have seen in you also the desire for this Universal Dream to exist in your beautiful country. A dream all people in this world share.

I pray Democracy thrives in Botswana.  That you will have a fair and balanced election. That your leader Duma Boko has the just opportunity he is due.

A man who has dedicated his whole life to protecting your rights. A man who I have spent years with and someone who has proven time and again what good leadership means.

You deserve such a man. And you deserve such a President. You deserve my friend, my brother Duma Boko.
