VP fans Ndingo Johwa

Johwa was elated to be chosen to entertain the VP and put on masterpiece performance.

“I was supposed to perform at 4:00 am, but a special request has been made for me to come forward in the programme so that the Vice President’s wish is granted. I am happy because he is retiring this year and this is a present for him before he goes,” Johwa said.

The Domboshaba singer demonstrated his class in front of a capacity crowd that included acting Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Vincent Seretse.

Tickling his guitar majestically, while at the same time pulling off naughty dance moves, Johwa led his two female dancers into poetic dance with the crowd easily joining in on the excitement.

Ndingo had just taken over from elderly DJ Tony Crazy Disco.  The former master of the decks had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand with classic oldies like CJB’s Your Love Is Power, which excited both the young and old.

Another legend who put an inspiring show was gospel giant Phempheretlhe Pheto.  On the night, Pheto and his band turned his Kebone Phenyo song around, creating some house beats, which excited the crowd.

But most notable about Pheto’s performance was the brilliance of his seven-year-old son Pako whose keyboard skills left many in awe.

“I believe in him that is why I let him start the song Ke Tshepile Wena where everybody can tell that his keyboard play was real and actually leads the backing band,” Pheto told Arts & Culture.
