Boko launch to unveil state-of-the-art campaign buses

The buses, branded UDC with gold, orange and black colours are expected to boost their campaigns, especially for the leadership, as they travel from one area to another.

The buses are said to have cost UDC millions of Pula.

“Our campaigns are going to change.  These are the last minutes of the elections therefore we should not leave any stone unturned,” a source told Mmegi.

He said that the reason why they had to acquire five buses is because they found funds late and their campaigns have been lagging behind in some areas.

He said they have received complaints that UDC is not visible in some areas and this has been because of lack of resources.

He added: “Tota kgang e tona ke go ya ko dikgaolong. BDP e ntse e re fenya ka dikgaolo tse di ko ntle. Kgang e tona ke go ya ko masimong le ko tengnyana teng.”

Apart from the buses, the party is also supposed to buy three vehicles, which will assist with campaigns in constituencies won, however narrowly, in 2009.

The presidential bus that will be used by UDC leaders has a mini-kitchen, toilet and a small fridge.

Meanwhile, UDC spokesperson Moeti Mohwasa confirmed the arrival of the buses.

“We will share more information about the buses when unveiling them on Saturday at the president’s launch,” he said.

Yesterday, all the UDC campaign managers were in Gaborone for a workshop.

Opposition parties this elective year have upped their game as they introduced aggressive campaigns like they have never done before.

Early this year, UDC president Duma Boko took a helicopter tour with his Hollywood friends, Rick Yune and Jennifer Bell to remote areas. The government yesterday placed a visa restriction on the two actors yesterday.

Last month, BCP hired a presidential tour bus that is expected to cover an estimated 4,971 kilometres countrywide.  The tour started on September 20 and will end at a key rally on October 18, 2014 just days before election day.
