The husky-voiced artist said that he was invited by the Botswana High Commission to be one of the performers at Independence celebrations in Kenya.

Phuthego said he would perform at the Botswana High Commission in Kenya and at some other shows organised by the embassy and Batswana living in Kenya.

Although he stated that he would not be going with his full band, he promised to perform to the best of his ability.

“I always leave a mark and I am adamant that I will leave footprints in Kenya,” he said.

He highlighted that his music, which is poetry fused with jazz can be appreciated anywhere in the world that’s why he is sure it will be appreciated in Kenya.

The poet said that as compared to the rest of the world that celebrates manmade beauty, Africa’s advantage is that it has natural features that leave people awed.

He pointed out that his music captures all this hence making it more interesting.

Phuthego told Showbiz that he intends to use the visit to his advantage explaining that his schedule includes radio and television interviews.  In addition, he said that he has learnt that artists should not be tourists in foreign lands, but should learn to capitalise on their opportunities and make connections.
