He said even though he had known the graduates for a short while he believed that they would make the school proud as they have proved that they are capable of being responsible managers who wouldn’t fear taking risks or managing it for the benefit of the companies or organisations they would work for.

“I urge you to sell yourselves to the industry. If you want to succeed in life, you must not be ordinary but differentiate yourselves from other people in the industry. I believe that we have empowered you with enough skills that would identify you from your rivals,” he said.

He said the college hoped that they would partner with the graduates where together they could be able to tackle many managerial gaps. He said he hoped that with ERM graduates would be able to be managers who would be trusted by their juniors and other stakeholders.

“The nature of this programme creates an awareness of the importance of ERM as a vital tool for strategic management and governance within organisations. I am confident that you will make great progress in your journey with the skills and expertise acquired through ERM programme,” Lesolle added.

He said the graduates added to a pool of skilled human resources from Botswana who has the ability to compete with impacts of the global arena. He said BAC continuously strive to deliver academically relevant professional program to students which will contribute to skills required by the economy of Botswana.

ERM programme will equip students with the knowledge to develop a risk management framework for their respective organisations, including designing the risk management strategy, architecture and protocols, he added.

He also highlighted that the program was launched in January 2012 with 150 students in Gaborone where over the years it had shown a tremendous growth, with over 600 completing training in both Gaborone and Francistown campuses

The guest of honour, National Development Bank (NDB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Lorato Morapedi, said Risk Management has become a key supporting skill for practicing professionals.

“I urge Batswana to put high importance on this programme as it will ultimately propel the country’s socio-economic development into a competitive, winning and prosperous nation,” she added.

Morapedi also urged the graduates to be go-getters. She told them that as managers, they have to know what they want and work hard to obtain it.

Furthermore, she advised them to also admit that they are wrong and accept that they had failed. She said acceptance was a good remedy, as it would encourage an individual to reflect on how they may have gone wrong and find solutions.

“Failure is not the end of life. We fall to rise again, so I urge you to focus and work hard towards achieving your goals,” she adviced. Poets TJ Dema and Moreri Moroka  kept the audience captivated with their inspirational renditions.
