Amakhosi in emphatic win over Tonota

The visiting Tonota FC controlled the game for the first 35 minutes and were barely troubled by the home side. They found the back of the net through Keabetswe Sebika in the 30th minute. The visitors controlled the midfield and exposed Amakhosi’s backline manned by the towering skipper, Phineus Murinda, Bokamoso Phuthego and Richard Thomas.

Amakhosi quickly realised their weakness and pulled out defensive midfielder Jackson Motswasele before introducing the hard running Screamer Kgotle. Like a doctor’s prescription, Kgotla immediately changed the complexion of the game in favor of Amakhosi.

His dribbling skills coupled with speed, Kgotle made an immediate impact by spraying telling passes to his strikers. In the 38th minute, Kgotle won possession just few metres from the penalty box before picking an unmarked Tamocha Bedi who found the equalizing goal.

After the equaliser, the two sides went to sleep until halftime. But from the breather, Amakhosi launched attack after attack in a bid to get more goals. They were answered in the 55th minute through Kago Kaizer. Launching their attack from the left flank through the talented and skilful Bokamoso Phuthego, Amakhosi gave the Maokaneng Bontshetse founded side a hard time and was always on the back pedal.

The partnership of Kgotle, Kaizer and Phuthego in the middle was too much for the visiting side. Tonota FC’s Robert Modise, Koziba Gibson and Onneile Sebapalo were forced to drop deep as Amakhosi attacked in numbers.

Olebile Elias, in between Tonota FC goalposts, had to summon his acrobatic skills and Kgotle, Kaizer and Dibuile became a handful for his defenders. However, Dibuile managed to slice his way through the blunder-prone Tonota FC defense and nailed the third goal for Amakhosi with only three minutes before the final whistle.

Bedi could have scored a brace and the fourth for his club if he could have converted his effort deep into the referee’s optional time.
