Chiefs narrowly defeated Premier League rookies, Letlapeng 1-0 on Wednesday evening in Molepolole courtesy of Pontsho Moloi’s strike.

Chiefs are perched at the top with 18 points from seven games, having lost only one game so far.

They have not drawn a single game and scored 15 goals. Chiefs had temporarily lost the top position to Police XI who had earlier in the day thrashed ECCO City Greens 3-0. Police XI like Chiefs and Township Rollers are yet to lose match this season.

They have been on top form since the beginning of the season. Uyapo Seleka scored one of the goals against ECCO while Kawashu Makai scored a brace to keep the Francistown side rooted at the bottom of the log standings.

Police XI are just one point off the pace with seven games played .

Under the tutelage of Junior Lotlaamoreng, the Jungle Kings now look more like title contenders. They have not only been winning matches but are also playing free flowing attacking football led by captain, Betsho Pius. By yesterday, they were occupying position two while Rollers were sitting on position three following their 1-1 draw with Sankoyo Bush Bucks on Tuesday. BMC were sitting at position four before their match against Gaborone United (GU) yesterday night. Rollers had temporarily led the log on Tuesday night.

Extension maintained their good run on Wednesday, beating Nico United 1-0 in Lobatse. Topo Piet scored the only goal of the match against his former club. Piet has been struggling to show the form that made him a household name while at Nico United.

However he registered his first goal of the season on Wednesday against a team that raised his profile and the goal proved to be the winner for Mapantsula. It was Gunners fourth consecutive win. Gunners are now sitting at position six with 13 points. The rich vein of form is expected ease pressure off coach, Dragojlo Stanojlovic who has been under heavy criticism from Gunners supporter after a faulty start to the season.

BDF XI registered their second successive victory and have now moved to position seven after beating Motlakase Power Dynamos 3-1. They have collected 12 points from seven games. Just like Stanojlovic, BDF XI mentor, Elijah Chikwanda was reportedly walking on thin ice after a series of poor performances by the team since the league started. After reports of impending dismissal emerged last week, Chikwanda’s charges responded positively against Orapa United last weekend before beating Motlakase mid week. Motlakase took the lead through veteran striker, Jomo Bolofete before Mokgathi Mokgathi, Khumbulani Madziba and Master Masitara responded for Matebele.

Orapa United failed to dislodge FC Satmos from eighth spot despite beating the latter 2-0 courtesy of Patrick Lenyeletse and Hendrick Moyo’s goals.

Both sides have 10 points but Satmos has a superior goal difference. ECCO is still languishing at the bottom of the league table with just one point. They are the only side in the league, which is still to win a match this season.
