Dow rewards campaign volunteers

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) hopeful announced that she would provide business opportunities to her campaign team by converting her offices in Mochudi into a business centre. “You were told not to run after Dow, because like all politicians, she is going to abandon you as soon as she had won the elections,” said Dow. She said, “truth is, after the elections most of you will not be able to reach me, and it won’t be because I will be snubbing you, but rather it will be because I will be very busy with parliamentary duties. I have come to know some of you intimately and consider you my children. I know your backgrounds and struggles. I will not leave you hanging dry,” she said at a ‘Dow and Volunteers’ five year cooperation plan workshop that she had organised in Mochudi.
The former High Court judge promised to convert her offices in Mochudi into a business centre. The centre, she said would have telephone, electricity, and internet connection to house an internet café, a tuck-shop, car wash, nursery and at least four other businesses. “An administration manager will be appointed to oversee the running of the business centre,” she said. Dow also promised a large 30 hectares farm, the Hills of Music, a combi, and a Toyota van to the campaign team made up of mostly underprivileged youth. The farm has an irrigation system; buildings and can accommodate piggery, poultry, small livestock, nursery as well as numerous other projects. Whilst on the other hand the very popular Hills of Music, has an amphitheater and a camping site can be used for music festivals and drama plays.
The youthful entrepreneur Barolong Mouwane also attended the workshop and told the beneficiaries that business is hard. Mouwane adviced them to work very hard and never give up when it gets tough. The elated and visibly touched volunteers thanked Dow for her generosity and for treating them like her own children.
